- In nomine Domini ‘Dei’ saluatoris nostri Iesu Christi. Ego Ædilbaldus rex Merciorum, pro eterno remedio anime mee necnon et pro pio amore saluatoris mundi, aliquam partem iuris mei omnipotenti largitori bonorum omnium donare decreui. Idcirco Ingualdo episcopo Londonie ciuitatis unius nauis tributa in propriam possessionem iure perpetuali in eternum dono, ut absque aliquo mutabilitatis scrupulo habeat, nec de ea aliquis regum successorumque meorum uel cuiuscumque gradus absque tua uoluntate aliquid sibi usurpare presumat, sed mihi in munus perpetuum in beata requie feliciter conseruetur. Si quis proinde hanc donationem a me saluberrime tractatam augere, defendere, adunare uoluerit, augeat Dominus partem eius in libro uite; sin autem aliter, quod minime credo, contigerit ut aliquis, maligni spiritus instinctu ac diabolica fraude deceptus, hanc eleemosynam meam minuere uel uiolare presumpserat, sciat se in presenti seculo a participatione sacratissimi corporis et sanguinis Christi fore suspensum et in nouissimo die sciat se separatum a Deo et tenebris exterioribus destinandum. + Ego Edilbaldus rex donator ad confirmationem donationis mee, pro ignorantia literarum, signum saluatoris crucis expressi. + Ego Wilfrid et Ego Obba consentio et subscribo.

Translation
- In the name of the Lord ‘God’ our Saviour Jesus Christ. I, Æthelbald, king of the Mercians, for the eternal salvation of my soul and also out of pious love for the Saviour of the world, have decided to give a portion of my property to the Almighty Giver of all good things. For that reason I am giving to Ingwald, bishop of the city of London, into his own possession eternally by perpetual right the toll on one ship that he might have it without any fear of change, nor, concerning that, that any kings and my successors or person of rank of any kind should presume to take possession of anything for themselves against your will, but may it be favourably preserved as a lasting gift for me in blessed repose. If anyone in like manner should wish to increase, protect, unite with this gift assembled most usefully by me, may the Lord increase his share in the book of life; but, however, should it happen otherwise, which I hardly believe, that anyone, deceived at the instigation of a malign spirit and devilish deceit, should presume to diminish or violate these alms of mine, let him know that in the present life he will be suspended from participation in the most sacred body and blood of Christ in this world and at the last day know that he will be separated from God and destined for outer darkness. + I, Æthelbald, king, the donor, in confirmation of my gift have, because of my ignorance of letters, have imprinted the sign of the cross of the Saviour. + I, Wilfrid and I, Ofa, agree and subscribe.
