Ego dux Brihtnothus iturus contra paganos ad bellum, consenciente rege Æthelredo, diuisi omnes terras meas per ecclesias per Angliam, audiente Sirico archiepiscopo et optimatibus regis omnibusque id laudantibus et consentientibus. Ecclesie saluatoris in ciuitate Dorobernie has terras contuli: Lellinges, Illelege et Hætlege; liberas ab omni seruitute seculari exceptis expeditione, pontis et arcis constructione. Hætlege tamen concessi Ælflede uxori mee tantum in diebus suis; postea redeat ad ecclesiam Christi eadem uilla. Siquis easdem uillas aut aliquam partem ex hiis uillis a predicta ecclesia abstulerit, sit ei pars et societas cum Iuda qui Christum uendidit in inferno inferiori, nisi de hoc quod male gessit congruam faciat emendati[onem].
