    • [A]nno dominice incarnationis millesimo .xxxviii. Ædsinus presbiter regis Cnut suscepit habitum monachi in ecclesia saluatoris in Dorobernia. Eodem tempore idem rex Cnut reddidit prefate ecclesie Christi uillam de Folcestane, quam olim rex Æthelstanus filius regis Eaduuardi eidem ecclesie Christi pro salute anime sue et pro anima patris sui tunc nouiter defuncti dedit. Hac autem condicione prenominatus rex Cnut eandem terram reddidit, ut nullus archiepiscoporum, qui ab illo die uenturi erant in eandem ecclesiam, illam terram, uidelicet Folcestane, nec dare nec uendere posset sine licencia et consensu regis et monachorum Deo in eadem ecclesia seruiencium, sicut dicit cartula que in illa ecclesia de iam sepe nominata terra habetur.
