Tunc venit ad eum quidam de principibus suis nomine Haldene et cepit ei dicere: ‘Notum est excellencie tue domine quid a te diu petiui de ecclesia ista, ut pro salute anime tue et mee huic familie Christi aliquantulam partem de terris meis impartire potuissem’. Cui rex respondit: ‘Quod diu petisti, iam inuenisti. Fac ut tibi bonum uidetur’. Statim absque omni dilacione precepit hoc scriptum facere, et factum coram rege et omnibus qui cum eo erant legere et regem rogauit id ipsum signo crucis confirmare. Ego Haldene Scearpa, per consensum et concessionem domini mei regis Cnutonis et optimatum suorum, concessi ecclesie Christi in Dorobernia, presente eodem rege in eadem ciuitate consistente, has terras, Hitham et Sealtuuoda, cum omnibus ad eas rite pertinentibus, campis, pratis, pascuis, siluis, seruis, ancillis, pecoribus, sicut eas melius et plenius preparare potui, pro salute anime mee et mulieris que easdem terras olim eidem ecclesie contulit. Siquis easdem uillas a predicta ecclesia elongauerit, ab omnipotente Deo excommunicatus in die magna iudicii a sinistra iudicis constitutus diabolo coniungatur.
