    • Charta D'ni Athelstani Regis de Donatione manerii de Lenga In nomine D'ni nostri Jh'u Xti omnia de summo caeli apice visibilia et invisibilia ordinabiliter gubernante etc. Quapropter Ego Athelstan, Rex totius Albionis, aliquam partem terrae juris mei perpetuali donatione libenter et humiliter concedo Deo omnipotenti largitori meo et S. Petro, ad Ecclesiam quam Alfredus Rex, Avus meus, in Athelyngay erexit, ut omnium Regalium tributorum et vi exactoriorum operum et Principalium rerum et poenalium causarum furisque comprehensione, et ab omni saecularium servitutum molestia secura et immunis aeternaliter permaneat. Et huius terrae quantitas est unius viz. mansionis in loco qui dicitur Relengen in oppidi ejus occidente, quatenus Abbas et Fratres illius Eccl'ae pro anima Alfredi et mea orare non desistant. Termini autem sunt huius agelli. First unto Gorlak, thanne to Bykenstile, from that stile to the Whitston, thans unto ye old Ditch, from thulk dich to Depebroke in the old Diche place, than to the 5 acres, from ye 5 acres unto the Hundslawe, and swo adoun to the Slo, and from the Slo to Riselheie, thans to Whatcombshey and so adoun to the Oldherworth, and thennes to Brodemersh to the Reddich, end elong the dich anon to the Inrek, from thenns to Privetesmoreshed, from Privetesmoreshed anon to the middle of Privetesbrigg, and thens ende long est more anon to Threskwold, and thens to Asklake, from Asklake unto the old Lake up into Chester-Lake, and unto Toteyyate, from Toteyate to Hengest Were, from Hengest Were unto Hornwere, from Hornwere unto Shirwoldslode, eftsones into Gorlake.
