    • I, King Cnut, send friendly greetings to my bishops and my earls and all my thegns in the shires where my priests in St Paul’s minster have land, and I inform you that it is my will that they be entitled to their sake and their soke, and to toll and team, in <festive season> and outside it, (and) as fully and completely as they had in the days of any king, in all things, within the burh and without, and I forbid any man to do then wrong in any thing. These are the witnesses: Archbishop Æthelnoth and Archbishop Ælfric and Bishop Ælfwig and Bishop Ælfwine and Bishop Duduc and Earl Godwine and Earl Leofric and Osgod <Clapa> and Thored and many others. May God curse him who shall alter this.
